Supporting sighthounds across southern England

As well as overseeing the care of 7 lifetime sponsor dogs, Southern Lurcher Lifeline's primary mission is to help support sighthounds who find themselves in need of critical medical treatment that the pet insurance companies do not cover.

Incredible advances in veterinary science over the last few years means that we now have an almost endless array of options to improve and save the lives of our beloved pets. However, due to the limits and exclusions that insurance companies apply, it is rarely possible to recover the full costs involved. And of course, those dogs that are still in rescue are unable to get insurance at all.

Over the 11 years that we operated as Southern Lurcher Rescue, we had many dogs come into us with extensive medical needs. Sadly, we were sometimes also contacted by one of our lovely adopters to tell us that their 'SLR' hound had developed a serious condition that they were struggling to find enough funds for. Thankfully, due to the wonderful SLR supporters, we always managed to cover the rescue dogs' needs and were often able to help with the adopted dogs' cases too.

Now, operating as Southern Lurcher Lifeline, we'd like to extend that help to sighthounds of all shapes and sizes across southern England via our new grant system.

Please note, our primary criteria for grant applications is as follows:

  • Open to both rescues and individuals

  • Available for medical and therapeutic treatments

  • Proof of circumstance, vet details & medical reports may be required

  • If approved, funds will be paid direct to the vet or therapist providing the treatment

  • Priority will be given to those with pet insurance, however, every application with be considered on its own merits

Please see our Grant Applications page for details of how to apply, or email us at [email protected].
