If you can't find the answer to your question here then please feel free to email us at [email protected].
Q1 - Why have you changed your name from 'Rescue' to 'Lifeline'?
Sadly, in May 2018 we had to close our doors as a rehoming rescue. This was because the majority of our trustees were either retiring or struggling with health issues and the constant stress of dealing with dogs in need of foster homes was just too much,
However, we didn't want to stop helping hounds entirely, so we decided to continue as a fundraising and awareness organisation instead. We will therefore be offering our funds as a 'lifeline' to both members of the public and other rescues who are in need of help with their veterinary costs, as well as continuing to support the 7 hounds that we committed to sponsor for life.
For more details of the Southern Lurcher Lifeline grants program, please see our 'Hound Support' page.

Q2 - Are you still a proper charity?
Absolutely! In fact, our Registered Charity Number (1126665) hasn't changed. We just applied to the Charity Commission to change our name and governing document, which they approved on 30th May 2018.
This means you can check up on us whenever you like, by going to www.gov.uk/government/organisations/charity-commission, clicking on 'Find a charity' and then typing our name in the search box.
Alternatively, just click on our charity number on the footer of this website and it will take you straight there.

Q3 - What do you do with the donations people give you?
All the money that is donated to us goes straight into our bank account. Some of it is ring-fenced for the regular medical needs of our lifetime sponsor dogs, such as vaccinations, medications, hydrotherapy etc. We also need to make sure we always have funds in reserve, so that we can support any of the SLR 'happily homed' dogs that might need help in the future.
The rest of the funds we have are now being made available to other needy sighthounds, in the form of donations and grants, to help cover the cost of their medical care. Please see our 'Hound Support' page for more details.

Q4 - I've seen a hound that needs rescuing/rehoming, can you help?
Unfortunately we are no longer able to take in dogs. However we can point you in the direction of other good rescues who may be able to help. Please see our 'Links' page, or email [email protected].
Q5 - I know of a foster/kennel dog that needs a lot of veterinary treatment, will you help the rescue with the costs?

Please Note: Priority will be given to rescues which are registered charities, however all cases will be considered.

Q9 - My hound isn't from Southern Lurcher Rescue, but I really need help, who should I ask?

Q10 - I want to adopt a lurcher, where can I get one from now that you no longer have dogs for rehoming?
Almost every mixed breed rescue in the country regularly has lurchers in need of homes. Why not check out those nearest to you? Alternatively, if you would like to speak to a dedicated lurcher rescue, please see our 'Links' page, or send an email to [email protected] for more info.
Q11 - I'd like to support the work you are doing, how do I make a donation?
The simplest way to make a donation is via PayPal. You can do this by logging into your PayPal account, clicking on 'Send Money' and then typing 'treasurer@southernlurcherlifeline' into the box. But please make sure to do it as a 'friend or family' transaction, otherwise PayPal will take a fee from your donation.
Alternatively, just click on the Donate button on the footer of this site ... which works whether you have a PayPal account or not.
Also, if you have a minute to spare, please take a look at our 'How You Can Help' page for details of other ways you can help us to raise funds - some of which won't cost YOU a penny!
